General Manager (Commercial & Industrial Painting)
Brush Strokes Quality Painting
General Manager (Commercial & Industrial Painting)
Location: Augusta, GA (On-Site)
Lead a High-Performance Painting & Construction Operations Team Into the Next Chapter
Brush Strokes Quality Painting is a commercial and industrial painting contractor serving Augusta and the broader CSRA (Georgia + portions of South Carolina). We deliver complex work with strong systems, clear accountability, and a "do life together" team culture. We're approaching our 10-year anniversary and launching a second location, so we're hiring a General Manager to own day-to-day operations in Augusta while the owner focuses on expansion.
Our Core Values
- Servanthood - We serve clients, teammates, and partners with humility and professionalism.
- Integrity - We do what's right, even when it costs us.
- Chain Breaker - We grow, improve, and build better patterns--personally and professionally.
- Go Getter - We take initiative, follow through, and get results.
- To thrive at Brush Strokes, you need to genuinely align with and live out these values.
We're looking for a General Manager who will
Run the Augusta operation with strong leadership cadence, financial discipline, and systems-first execution. This role is ideal for someone who can lead leaders, improve processes, and drive consistent performance, without needing the owner to "save the day." You do not need to be a painting expert. You do need to be a construction-minded leader who understands job costing, accountability, and what it takes to systemize execution in commercial construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations for the Augusta branch (commercial/industrial focus)
- Run weekly 1:1s with leaders (PMs/supervisors) and drive accountability to KPIs
- Ensure job costing is captured correctly and reviewed consistently (labor, materials, equipment, variance explanations)
- Own AR collections expectations and maintain strong cashflow habits with longer pay cycles
- Maintain production scheduling discipline and keep projects moving with clear priorities
- Support customer escalations professionally, be the calm, capable "face" when needed
- Drive process improvement: SOPs, checklists, documentation standards, and repeatable execution
- Support business development through networking (Rotary/Chamber/vendor relationships, lunches, local events)
- Ensure consistent use of tools and systems (Google Workspace, QuickBooks Online, JobTrend, receipt capture tools, and client platforms like Procore/CoConstruct as needed)
- Coordinate safety/compliance systems as required (Avetta/ISNetworld, trainable, but must be comfortable with software)
Qualifications
- 5 or more years leading operations or project teams in commercial/industrial construction (PM, Ops Manager, Superintendent, GM, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge of construction financials: job costing, margin drivers, AR/AP, pay terms
- Proven ability to lead leaders and build a culture of accountability
- Systems-minded: you document, standardize, and improve the way work gets done
- Tech-comfortable (Google Workspace + construction software)
- Strong communication skills, calm, direct, respectful
- Valid driver's license (company vehicle provided)
- EOS/Traction familiarity is preferred
- Profit First familiarity (or related financial operating frameworks)
What Sets You Apart
- Backbone + Humility: You can respectfully challenge leadership when something won't work and bring a better plan.
- Ownership: You don't wait to be told twice. You take responsibility and drive outcomes.
- Problem Solving: You investigate variances, find root causes, and implement fixes.
- Leadership Cadence: You build rhythms that keep teams aligned (weekly priorities, scorecards, consistent follow-up).
- Follow-Through: You finish the "middle," not just the start and the end.
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time, W-2 position
- Salary: $85,000 to $100,000 base (based on experience)
- Company vehicle + fuel
- Paid Time Off: up to 140 hours/year, including paid week of Christmas + major U.S. holidays
- After 1 year: Simple IRA match and health plan contribution/match (individualized plan structure)
- Company-provided tech: iPhone, iPad, laptop
Why This Role Matters
The General Manager is the operational backbone of Brush Strokes. When you lead well, holding the team accountable, tightening job costing, protecting cash flow, and strengthening systems, projects run smoother, margins improve, leaders grow, and the company can expand without chaos. You're not just "running ops." You're helping build a stable, scalable organization.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- You'll lead a team that values culture, faith-informed principles, and doing the right thing
- You'll have real autonomy paired with clear expectations
- Your ideas to improve systems and performance will be welcomed
- You'll help shape the next chapter as we expand into West Georgia
